I caught Bubba!

So two weekends ago dad and I went out to do a little fishing. The day went pretty good! We had caught a few white and yellow perch. Then as usual Stacy lugged in a big old cat fish. Sorry dad! Then I pulled in this beautiful large mouth bass. Yes that's my fish, my dad holding it because I still don't know how to take bass off the hook but that is my fish! As we were not expecting to catch anything like that we had no way of keeping him. So back in the water he went I'll be back when he is a couple inches bigger.

The latest news....

So here is the new place in Alexandria. It’s pretty nice two bedroom one as a spare room and our room. Paul asked for only one thing, a balcony, and that we have. Till about a week ago we had a great view then all of the sudden this tree grew leaves. I swear it came up over night. All is well. I have started a new job at property management company as a receptionist. It’s fairly close to home and is a very pleasant place to work. Everyone seems extremely nice. It also seems like the kind of place you can move up in relatively quick. So that’s a plus!

Paul is grand. He is working in a pub in Arlington. He seems happy enough. Not as many hours as he would like but I’m thankful for that. With him working nights and me days I usually have a few nights at home by myself. What am I doing with my spare time? Knitting! This little hobby has become a obsession. I am currently trying to get a few friends together to knit a few times each month. Check out the blog to see what I and the “Knit Wit Knitters” have been up to. I added the link to my favorite sites and blogs. That’s about it for now...will try and keep up to date even though there isn’t anything nearly as exciting as when I was in Ireland. Take care!

It's all over...

Well that's that. Three wonderful months in Ireland! I saw so many beautiful sites and got a chance to see the places Paul is from and the places he has haunted. Back to reality :-( Well at least I brought back a nice parting gift. About 5'9'' maybe 195lbs worth. With a sexy accent and pretty blue eyes. Yes Paul is back in the states. (He must like me or something) Our landing spot is in Alexandria Virginia. Paul is working at a Irish Pub in Arlington and Stacy has just become a part of the working force again in Old Town. Weird being back...it already seems like so long ago that I was in Ireland. But I have wonderful memories that will always be there. Who knows may be back there again someday for a longer stay.

What did you do for Valentine's Day!

So Valentines Day! It was nice to have Paul off for the day that we could spend it together. We really hadn't planned anything special and didn't feel the need to be forking out loads of money. We decided the night before to get up a little early to try and catch the sun. We hoped in the car and headed down to Portumna. It was about a 45 minute drive thankfully the weather held out and allowed us to enjoy the ride. Once there we took a quick drive through the town and drove over the Shannon River. While driving through town he pointed out the church his parents had been married at. I immediately recognized it from the wedding album I had looked at his mom's. Portumna is the town that his mother grew up in. So it was nice to see a little bit of his family's roots.

We decided to go for a little drive down to the water. Along the way we found our way into a estate that held the remains of a abbey and graveyard and a beautiful castle. I took a picture if the sign post telling about the Abbey. I think it is wonderful that there is still so much Gaelic in the country. The sign is in both Gaelic and English. We took a little stroll around the castle grounds but unfortunately this time of year nothing is open. The castle grounds features gardens and tours. Will have to come back at a better time to have a look.

After wards we took a little spin through town and Paul took me to his grandmothers house. This is the house his mother grew up in and his Aunt and her family are currently living. Auntie and son happened to be home enjoying a bit of lunch so we stopped in for a quick hello. After that we enjoyed a drive talking. We talked about grandparents and memories of life and death. Paul suddenly veered off the road down a little alley way to a small graveyard. He was surprised to remember where it was, we payed a little visit to his grandparents and payed respects.

Getting a little late in the afternoon and having not had anything to eat we decided to stop in a town along the way for a sandwich. We had a nice toasted sandwich and a wrap. Followed by a wonderful éclair and apple pastry. Home we headed to a much needed nap. Two hours OUT! We had already decided we would have a nice dinner at home and since there was nothing good on TV we decided to pick up a movie at the shop. We put dinner on hold and headed to the video store for the grueling task of picking a movie. In the end we went home with a Irish film called “The wind that shakes the Barley” Set in the 1920's it was about the Irish fitting against British soldiers and the peace treaty that followed. Not exactly a romance piece for Valentine's day but...still a good film. All in all a nice day. No need to spend loads of money it was just good to be together for the day!
