The 4th and stuff :-)

So I know its been a while since I checked in. The good thing is it is just because I have been so crazy busy! Well I am trying to keep busy that is. For the 4th of July weekend I decided to take a little road trip to Baltimore to visit the family.

I left work around 3:00 on Thursday and 3 hours later was hoping on T.J.'s boat for a little overnight sail. It was nice to be out on the water again. Having grown up on the waterfront, I miss it. We didn't go to far just headed out to a island nearby and dropped anchor. After a quick swim we had some dinner and watched a Jeff Dunham video. We sat on the deck for a while enjoy the night air then retired to a book and sleep. All in all a nice start to the holiday.

Friday we came back in and I had to get going to get ready to head downtown. I was dancing at Zeeba that night so I wanted to get downtown early to get a parking spot. Once there I paid a little visit to my old haunt the James Joyce then Taco Fiesta. The fireworks were disappointing and Zeebas was dead. So nothing exciting to report there.

Saturday was spent getting hooked on that stupid Wii thing! Nothing like a computer game telling you your unbalanced! It was fun though I took out some aggression kicking this guys but in boxing :-) Then dad, TJ and I took the boat out to watch the fireworks. SOO much better then the ones I had seen the night before! Almost made up for the bad night.

Sunday was kind of chill. My Friend Alex came up and joined us. We went for a boat ride watched more Jeff Dunhamm and had a awesome steak dinner. It was nice to get away even if it was just Baltimore. I have had a lot on my mind lately. I think I actually slept well while I was there and gained a bit of weight back. But of coarse now that I am home the restless sleep is back. I hope this doesn't go on forever. Any who, hope everyone had a great 4th!

Friday the 13th!

I knew it...I should just never leave the house on Friday the 13th. So my day was cruising right along and I thought I was going to survive the day without any major incidents. Around 6:00-6:30 I was trying to be a nice person and let a not so little spider cricket go that I had found. I told him if I let him to tell all his buddies to stay away. So I let him go and went to go back into the apartment and guess what...locked myself out. I knew it would happen eventually! I had unlocked the top lock but not the bottom. Four other people live in the house and no one was home. I knew my one neighbor was out on his bike so I didn't think he would be too late. So, I waited. He finally came home at 8:20. I was supposed to be at Casablanca to dance at 8:30. Os I quickly called them grab my stuff and ran. It never fails something always happens!

So this beautiful bed was delivered to me tonight by my nearest and dearest friends Lyn and Heather and Liam. As they are sadly leaving me and moving to North Carolina it was one thing less for them to store and one thing less to drag down there. I gladly volunteered to take it off their hands. Lyn actually built the frame from scratch. He mad it high for the purpose of having room underneath for storage. I love it guys thank you so much! Of coarse now this means I have a futon to act as crash space for visitors!

Anne: Needless to say for fear of falling out of the bed....I slept DEAD CENTER!

Well I think it is time to transplant!

So my little herb pot is doing well. I actually need to get some smaller pots and move them over I would say. Now I just need to find some recipes to try them on.

Journey to the center of the bed...

So I was talking to my dear Friend Anne. I was telling her how I am having a problem sleeping and actually utilizing the whole bed. Almost ten years now of sharing my bed I have spent it on the edge. Now that it's just me I still find myself doing it. Anne said you gotta do it just sprawl out and enjoy having a whole bed to yourself. Well technically Anne has a kitty to cuddle up too ;-) Last night there was a phone conversation at around 3 am that I pretty much knew was coming. After a bottle of chilled apple wine and half a box of tissues...I woke up this morning with my head at the foot of the bed and my body spread out diagonally from corner to corner. Not quite the center...but I am well on my way. Thanks Anne :-)

We are once again trying to grow some herbs. I saw this cute little herb kit at Joann's and had to have it. With so much stuff on my mind I thought a little growing encouragement would be good. If the plants can grow in the basement then I can too! We have sweet basil, chives, curled parsley, and two others I can't remember at the moment. So I will keep you posted on both the plant and me.

Nothing to exciting new in the bathroom...some new pink washcloths and hand towels which look very nice :-)

I survived night one!

I survived...Night one in my first apartment on my own. Talk about weird. It kind of felt like being back at school and going to a friends house for a sleepover. When I got home yesterday the first thing I did was to clean some of the leaves out of the window sill. When I looked out the window above the sink there was about 6 inches worth of leaves. Two trash bags full later (and a loan worm that I so nicely pardoned) the window was clear but there are still a bunch of leaves down there (I think the hole may go all the way to China). Right about now I have hit the rain drenched stuff from the buckets of rain that have been coming down. I decided to give it a rest for the day and let some of that stuff dry out.
Next stop was Joanne's to look for some sheer material to make some curtains that let the light in. Didn't find anything too exciting fabric wise, but got a lovely herb pot to try and grow some fresh herbs. Next stop was Target (as I had no luck finding a Wal-Mart). Mission: Pink hand towels to match my pretty flowered shower curtain. You can never go to target and get just what you came for. Along the way I picked up...a toilet brush, a duster, sponge/scrubies, and two doormats. Now I am my mothers daughter, so when the first hand towels I saw were $5.99 I said no way! Then I saw $3.99...getting better but still it's a hand towel. Finally I spotted them! $1.59 for TWO pretty pink hand towels! Hell for that price I got the matching washcloths also $1.59 for 4. Although I did very good with all this wonderful stuff totaling a mere $27.00, that left $20 in the pocket for dinner. Hello Giant! $17.00 later the staple Kreiner diet of hot dog sandwiches (buy one get one free mind you) with cheese and some milk and cereal were in the bag. So home I went to make my little hotdog sandwiches and watch "To Wong Fu" I found it a appropriate movie for my first night in my apartment.
Before I realized it, it was midnight. Time to put the futon down and try to have a sleep. Beings I still have a cold the coughing was giving me some issues. I think I did sleep a bit but probably not a whole lot. Frankly I was a little disappointed at not receiving any messages at all from Paul to make sure I was ok. I think I checked the phone a couple of times when I woke up just in case. Disappointed but not surprised. Something I need to work on getting over. Everything was pretty quiet until the guy upstairs got up at 6:00 a.m. I'm thinking hey may have overslept he was running back and forth. The alarm went off at 7:00 I hit the snooze twice and finally got up. Had a nice hot shower got ready and out the door. A little later then I wanted too but I still made it to work on-time and in about 25 min. So not to bad.
Lots of thoughts right now. It's a strange feeling, being by yourself when you have basically had a body beside you for about ten years now. I'm not sure how to react. I still slept all the way at the edge of the bed even though I had the whole bed to myself. I'm excited, nervous, a bit scared and worried a bit about being lonely. But this was only night one. I do have my knitting. I plan to buy a bike in the next few weeks. And I have a great nightlife around me. And there is my dancing of coarse. And I plan to try and move Mindy in over the weekend I know she will keep my company. So we shall see, I have no idea what is going to happen with my relationship at this point. I hope everything can work out but who knows, only time will tell. I will try and get some pics up of the place now that there are a few bits of furniture in it.

New Job, New Apartment...what else can we find new?

SO as many of you already know...I have had a lot of changes going on in my life right now. I was fired from my job on Good Friday(obviously not Christians there). I started a new job on the 21st and already I am loving it. Small office nice group, good pay and benefits. I even get a day off for my birthday! The next big change involves another move. Not to Ireland this time but to Arlington. I have in my hands the keys to my FIRST apartment by myself. It is actually very cute an will work out nice. The circumstances leading up to this are irrelevant. I am kind of excited...kind of scared...a bit of everything. So, new job, new apartment and after this weekend some new friends as well.

Where were you a year ago today?

How can I forget...I was in a pub in Galway enjoying pints and watching the Six Nations Rugby. I miss it...I miss it so much. We go back to Ireland next month for a few days. I can't wait! Sure it rains alot and its dreary but when the sun came out and you could see how beautiful everything was. It was worth it.

Who needs drugs? I am addicted to knitting!

What is “My Mother Says…”?

You know all those sayings your mother said to you as you were growing up? That's what My Mother Says is all about. It all started with me saying something goofy my mother always said to me and it made my friends laugh hysterically. I soon learned it wasn’t only my mother that had a few words of wisdom…everyone has something funny their mothers always said that they may use as adults now. You have the classics like “Do you think money grows on trees?”, “The dishes aren’t going to wash themselves!”, and “Keep doing that and your eyes are going to get stuck like that!” My favorite of my mom’s is “Your big enough, old enough, and ugly enough, to do it yourself!” Meant only in the most loving way of course!

What is my goal?

I want to hear your mom’s sayings! Some may be funny, some sentimental, some meant to instill the fear of God in you as mothers do so well! Reach down in your memories and have a good laugh. You may not have to reach far, as I would love to get some kids point of views as to what mommy tells them all the time. Or you may be a mom and find yourself telling your kids the same thing! If you submit a saying we are asking your name, age and where you are from because I hope to be able to get these from all around the world. So once you leave a saying please let your friends know about us too.

My goal is to get enough sayings to put together a book of them. Once I have enough I would like to team up with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to have a portion of the proceeds go to Breast Cancer research. As Breast Cancer has affected many of our lives through mothers, grandmothers and friends, I think it is only fitting for the memories we stir to benefit a good cause.
